WELCOME to our newest members!
Katie Morón with her children, Calvin and Brooke;
Melanie Northcutt, and Rosemary Washburn!

5th Sunday of Easter

May 19, 2019

Jared Rudd, Chaplin of Scout Troop 210,
gave background on the Religous Emblem Program
that the church supports for Troop 210.

First United Methodist Church of Ennis has sponsored
Troop 210 continuously for 73 years!

A Scout is reverent.
He is reverent toward God.
He is faithful in his religious duties
and respects the convictions of others
in matters of custom and religion.

Sam and Roy are the sons of Pat and Daphne Fullerton.

Sam Fullerton, a Webelo, received the
God and Family emblem.

Roy Fullerton, a Scout, received the
God and Church emblem.

Roy pins the parent pin on their father,
while Sam pins the parent pin on their mother.

Roy Fullerton is wearing his emblem proudly!

One of the hymns of Praise this Sunday was "By Faith."
Here is a snippet of it as led by Davin Hutchinson,
Tara Washburn, and percussionist Vincent Harris!

Pastor Steve and Susie, the St. Bernard,
brought the Children's Sermon.
They talked about God showing children to
be a very special treasure.

After the Offertory the congregation gets to SING
the powerful Doxology,
"Praise God from Who All Blessings Flow."
Immediately following was the scripture reading.

Pastor Steve Ramsdell's sermon,
"When You Need a Miracle,"
was based on the scriptures found
in all four Gospels about the feeding of the 5,000.

Some of the points included:
When God intersects with Faithfulness, miracles happen!
Bring your weakness to God's Faithfulness.
Know God by knowing Christ!
God works in ways beyond our comprehension!

TRUST God and that is when Miracles happen!

After the service, the new members
were swamped with the welcoming.
There are four generations here in the picture above.

Starting far left: Rosemary Washburn is the
great grandmother of Calvin Morón next to her.
Next is Katie Morón, Rosemary's granddaughter,
holding her daughter Brooke Morón and hand of Calvin.
Next to Katie is Melanie Northcutt,
her mother and Rosemary's daughter.

MY MOTHER’S LOVE

You gave me life and all your love
You gave me wings to be what I dream of
You held me close, calmed all my fears
You’re always there to wipe away my tears

A child’s heart, a mother’s love
A special bond designed by God above
Throughout my life, you will be there
To catch me when I fall and nurture me with care
I pray that God will keep me thankful of
My mother’s love

I watch you grow, I see you change
My love for you will always be the same
Where’er you go, whate’er you do
My love for you will always be there too

A mother’s heart, a child’s love
A special bond designed by God above
Throughout your life, I will be there
To catch you when you fall and nurture you with care
I pray that God will keep me thankful of
My child’s love

Your love’s a lamp (my love’s a lamp)
To light my way (to light your way)
Reflecting God’s deep love for me each day
A special gift (a special gift)
God gave to me (God gave to me)
And courage to know when to set you free

A mother’s heart, a child’s love
* A special bond designed by God above
Throughout my life, I will be there
To catch me when I fall and nurture you with care
* I pray that God will keep me thankful of
My mother’s love
I pray that God will keep me thankful of
My mother’s love

Music by Tom Shelton

Rev. Stephen Ramsdell, Interim Pastor,
gave a Mother's Day sermon titled:
"A Mother Dimension."

The dimensions of a mother he reveals are:
Prayers
Determination
Patience
Teaching
Hoping.

God is bigger than any need you will have!
Prayers from mothers mean a lot!
Praying moms and dads never give up!
A mom's love is powerful.
Mothers are always hopeful.

Pastor Ramsdell illustrated each and every point
he was making with stories about his own mother
and her hopes and expectations!

After the service, everyone was invited to the Courtyard for the Baptism by Immersion of Layla Ganske.

The Chancel Choir and James Montgomery
brought us "This is My Father's World"
as their Anthem!
This song may be thought to be an old hymn,
but the words of this song will always hold true!
This IS our Father's World;
let's go and DO his Will for it!

Pastor Ramsdell prepares us for his sermon
with prayer and thanksgiving!

Scripture Ephesians 5:14-17

Some favorite lines and scriptures from the sermon:

Acts 20:7-9

Wake up and pay attention!
Wake up to your real story!
Work on your story with God's help!

Proverbs 28:13

Make the most of opportunities to do good!
The Spirit of God will change everything!

Acts 4:25

Go into deep water faith!
Put yourself in a place you can be Blessed!

Holy Communion gives us the opportunity for renewal.
Open Communion invites all to participate!

Perfect timing for the send-off for the graduates!

First United Methodist Ennis has
Holy Communion
First Sundays of every month!

The altar is always available for prayer!

2nd Sunday of Easter

April 28, 2019

Janey Fallen once again captivates the kids
with her comparison of a child's most precious
possession--possibly a "binky"--that a child might
fear to lose to God ALWAYS being with you
-- you never lose the Spirit!

Chris Hammons was set to play "Falling In Love with Jesus"
on his saxophone, but as it happens,
the saxophone had a problem that
morning and could not be fixed.
So, Chris and Davin chose to sing it to us instead.
It was beautiful.

Did not record this one this time --the Chancel Choir
sang "Thy Word" as their Anthem this Sunday.

"Power for Living"

Acts 1:4-5

First sermon of the
Momentum for Life sermon series!

Favorite points made:

God empowers the church today!

Dunamis - the explosive power of God!

The Spirit of God is untamed!
The Holy Spirit will be your partner in life!

God is present - he is with you when you invite Him in.

When you are weak, God becomes strong!
The Spirit of God gives us strength!
God is available--he will help you in your weakness!

When your hope is limited, God's Hope is unlimited!
He is your Comforter!

What does it mean to be full of God in your life?
Ephesians 3:17-19
Fullness of power in your life --
when you feel Him "walking around in you.

These sermons are just WOW!!!
You need to be here!

Congregational hymn was "Victory in Jesus."
Appropriate hymn after that powerful sermon!

"Ring the Easter Bells."

Rev. Stephen Ramsdell's uplifting sermon
"Jesus and a New Life"
was just what we had been waiting for.

Jesus Christ is RISEN - He is RISEN - INDEED!

The Resurrection was a real event that changed the world!
It was the greatest VICTORY this world has ever known!

Easter is JOY and COURAGE!

The disciples were filled with JOY when they saw the resurrected Jesus!

The disciples had a message to share again and again
-- we are to share that message, too -- again and again!

They and we are to tell of God's presence in a new way!

EASTER changes EVERYTHING!

Palm Sunday MUST start off with the singing of
"Hosanna, Loud Hosanna"
with the parade of children
and others bringing palm branches
to the base of the cross!

Stephanie Reese challenges the children
during Children's Sermon time....
....and they are quick to respond..
..shows they are listening well!

Pastor Steve Ramsdell follows up on
the Call to Prayer
with the Pastoral Prayer
and The Lord's Prayer (congregation in unison).

Words ARE on the big screen, if needed!

Amanda Canady and Sarah Jurik (identical twins)
blessed with their beautiful voices
this Palm Sunday with
the deeply spiritual
"Worthy is the Lamb!"

Jared Rudd, Lay Leader, brought the scripture
for our sermon preparation!

Luke 19:29-40

Pastor Steve Ramsdell attempted to introduce
his identical twin brother Pastor Mike Ramsdell
who was to give the sermon of the day.
Pastor Steve seemed to have more stories
to tell about him than time would allow.
What a family dynamic!

Pastor Mike Ramsdell's sermon
was titled
"Consuming Grace."

He says that the word "Hosanna"
that we say a great deal on Palm Sundays
means "save us now!"

Grace was coming to this place!

Grace --
Covers the past
Gives us the present
Assures the future

The world has taught us that we are what we consume!
Ephesians 2:8-10

Jesus is still saving us!
It is a Gift from God!

We have a life that God wants us to live!

Pastor Steve Ramsdell closed the service
with the Invitation and the Benediction.

It was so much fun and interesting to experience
identical twin brothers and their preaching styles
and humor and more.
They are SO MUCH ALIKE in tone, style, smiles, banter.
....we were just thrilled to get to see them
work together before, during, and after the service!

Thank you Pastor Mike AND Pastor Steve for being here for us!

Fifth Sunday of Lent

Sunday, April 7, 2019

about the Truth Book using
the Children's Bible.

Christen Vick brings our weekly JOY
of the announcements of opportunities
for the week and the months ahead!

Even with choir absentees at times, the choir brings
us amazing music every time they get the chance!
Want to join them?
Practice is on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m.
You will be welcomed to be a part of this group!

First United Methodist of Ennis
has their own resident harp playing angel
- Kristi Copeland!
Everyone enjoys this rare treat.
Did not catch the recording this time,
but promise to do so next time!

Reciting the scripture together weekly
has become such a privilege
as we are led by Lay Leader Jared Rudd.

John 5:5-8

Pastor Ramsdell brings us more on
"Encounters with Christ - Indescribable"
messages!

This one was

"Jesus and a Paralyzed Man"

John 5:1-5

reminds of many facts about the Christ Jesus.

Jesus knows your whole story!
He knows your heart--and all about you!
Jesus knows your circumstances!

When you follow Jesus,
you agree to a life-changing experience!

Jesus cannot help someone who doesn't want help!
Faith is powerful when connecting to God!
Listen to the right voice in your life!

Holy Communion preparation each month
gives everyone cause to stop and think
and pray even more.
First United Methodist Communion table is an open Communion
 - all are welcome and invited to participate!

Laity assisting with Communion this month are:
Janey and Steve Fallen!

"I Am Thine, O Lord" indeed!
Thank you Davin for leading us!

The Invitation, the Benediction, and the Acolytes
-- all complete the service with fitting reverence!

The Sunday Bulletin will tell the whole story....almost!
